OPERATION

The 2314 comes with all the necessary disposables and is ready to be used.  The unique canister holder will accept a range of canisters.  When changing canisters please make sure the silicone tubing from the pump is connected to the proper port.  This port is labeled  "Vacuum".  Attach the patient tubing to the patient port.  Be absolutely sure that the tube from the pump is not connected to the "Patient" port.

Turn on the unit and occlude the patient tube to check for vacuum.  The unit should be able to produce a vacuum exceeding -525 mmHg+.  If this vacuum level cannot be obtained please refer to the operations manual and check for leaks.

The new-Duet is equipped with a variable regulator, which controls the vacuum on the new-Duet (from -50 to over -525 mmHg+).  Turning the knob clockwise will increase vacuum and turning it the opposite way will decrease vacuum. Please read the vacuum level on the color coded gauge on the control panel.  The regulator's low setting and the thumb control on the HI-D® suction catheter can be used when suctioning children and intubated patients.
